Thin Lenses

Thin Lenses

Using 'off-the-shelf' lenses can be convenient and quick, but it may not enhance the look of your specs.

There are many ways that lenses can be made to look less obtrusive, and we'll be happy to talk over the alternatives.

Shape to Shape
Standard lenses can be made thinner and lighter by matching the lens size to the frame rather than just using an off-the-shelf lens - it seems obvious, but it's not always done! Our frame scanners will always ensure that shape-to-shape technology is employed, and it's free!.

Mid or High Index
Lighter. thinner lenses are made from optically denser material that bend light more than conventional lenses - so you need less of them - so they're thinner!
No more dents in the nose - and they don't cost much more either.

Aspheric Lenses
More comfortable vision as well as thinner, lighter lenses is acheived using more accurate lens curves. Traditionally lenses have been made so the surface is spherical. But if the surface is flatter towards the edge - more elliptical, - then not only do you get a much better image quality and so more comfortable vision, but they're thinner as well.
The cost of them surprisingly, isn't that much more either.
